48 Hour Comprehensive Woodturning Semester

INTRODUCTION TO WOODTURNING 101

This is the first class in a series of three 16 hour classes that will bring you from knowing nothing about woodturning to being a skilled craftsman. This 16 Hour class meets Tuesday and Thursday for 3 hours each night for three consecutive weeks. This class is limited to four students. Session is August 1st through August 17th.

This first session is a comprehensive survey of the landscape of bowl and spindle turning using Easy Wood turning tools. You will learn safe lathe operation and spend the majority of your class time perfecting technique through a series of projects. Topics include proper lathe set-up, spindle and faceplate turning, bowl turning, lidded box turning, turning a wine glass. All you need to bring is enthusiasm and energy to learn new techniques. This class will prepare you for Woodturning 102.

INTRODUCTION TO WOODTURNING 102

This is the second class in a series of three 16 hour classes that will bring you from knowing nothing about woodturning to being a skilled craftsman. Prerequisite 101. This 16 Hour class meets Tuesday and Thursday for 3 hours each night for three consecutive weeks. This class is limited to four students. Session is August 22nd through September 5th.

This second session will continue in your survey of the landscape of bowl and spindle turning using traditional gouges and scrapers. You will spend the majority of your class time perfecting technique through a series of projects. Topics include spindle and face plate turning, bowl turning, platter turning and turning a hollow vessel. Continue your journey to becoming a skilled craftsman.

This class will prepare you for Woodturning 103.

INTRODUCTION TO WOODTURNING 103

This is the third class in a series of three 16 hour classes that will bring you from knowing nothing about woodturning to being a skilled craftsman. Prerequisite 102. This 16 Hour class meets Tuesday and Thursday for 3 hours each night for three consecutive weeks. This class is limited to four students. Session is September 12th through September 28th.

This third session will continue in your survey of the landscape of bowl and vessel turning with an emphasis on embellishment. You will spend the majority of your class time perfecting techniques through a series of projects. Topics include gilding and mineral inlay. This is the most fun class of the three. You will be proud of your artistic creations and the skills you have learned to become a skilled craftsman.
