selected accomplishments

Start up with immediate profitability. My employer decided to lay-off all hourly telecom technicians and replace them with subcontractors. Seizing the opportunity, I resigned my position, initiated a start-up business and hired those technicians just laid-off. I negotiated a subcontract agreement with my previous employer to continue their installations using their fully trained employees. In less than one year, I had also solicited business from other interconnect telecom companies guaranteeing immediate profitability and longevity.

Obtained Master’s Degree and Increased revenues > 100%. While managing my successful sales and service telecom company, I went to graduate school full-time. Graduated in two years (2001) with Honors and an MBA. Applied learned principals and techniques. Using in-house talent and existing assets, I increased revenue over 100% in the first year.  Efficiency and productivity were also improved by 25% in the first six months.

Problem Solving. One of our strategic partners questioned the validity of us supporting their highly technical telecommunication product via Internet and telephone only. I developed a Plug & Play solution ensuring assembly, programming and testing by our in-house factory trained technicians. I expanded our Help Desk capability to include end users. This  solution was approved by our strategic partner. My Plug & Play solution went on to generate a 50% increase in sales and give us the distinction of becoming our strategic partner’s number one dealer in North America.

Team Building. The second largest credit union in Florida put out an RFP for their main office and fifteen branches. I lobbied for inclusion in the bid process, competing against the top four companies nationwide in the marketplace. I recruited a specialized team to respond to the RFP. After three months, my team received the contract award leading to $500K+ in new system sales and recurring service revenue of over $100K annually for seven years, YOY.

CAREER HISTORY

President/General Manager, Telecommunication Professionals Inc., 1988 to 2009. $2.5M Telecommunications sales and service company. Managed all aspects of start-up company including P&L ($2.5M+), budgeting, staffing, marketing, sales and customer service.
